Prize Giving !

Prize giving Item 2013:

As I walked into the school at 7:00pm for prize giving my mum said to me “ Mele try your hardest and go hard out”. “Ok” As I replied . I was performing in the maori kapa haka which was first so I had to go to the music room. When the kapa haka group was in the music room we had a warm up and sang about 3 or 4 songs just for warm and then we had to go on stage. As we walked on stage i got stage scared because there were a lot of parents watching.

Isara played the guitar and patrick started the haka , As we were performing I was looking at the crowed to try and find my family then my eye caught my mum. As we ended our performance we went back to the music room put our shoes on and went to the hall to wait until our year group got called to perform. I was sitting right behind my family and they were proud of me. As I was sitting down we waited for a bit then Mr Burt said that it was time for the year 7 performance.

As the year 7’s stood up we walked towards the stage and stood in our places , I was on the floor next to Uili. As the song played I smiled to my family and started to do the dance moves that we learnt this whole week. The song that we were dancing to was fresh prince of bel air and everyone liked the song. We had acting in our performance and we also had big picture going from one end of the hall to the other.

When we finished our performance we sat down and Mr Burt gave out awards to the people who have learned them this year. After Mr Burt gave our the certificate Mr Burt said “ It is time for the band to play a song”. So The band group came out and Mr Burt went to the back stage to grab more certificate for the prefect and house captain next year.

When a band finish their Item Mr Burt called out the house captain then the prefect. As he was calling out the perfects my name got called out and my family was happy. As I walked up on the stage my mum, Aunty and cousin came up and put lollie lase on me and I was proud that I was a perfect. when everyone clapped I went back down to sit where i was sitting before and my mum gave me a hug.

After that it was time for the year 8 Item so the year 8’s walked up and stood in their places. First one stage were the girls they performed their bit and then my boys came on. The boys did their item then all the year 8’s came on the stage and sang a song. Crusader and Dillon played my guitar and the rest sang stand by me. As they got to the chorus Rita and Jaylee did a rap then Gabriel , Darius and James said thank you to all the teachers and that they were going to miss the teachers.

When they were done they all sat down while Mr Tele’a spoke to everyone and said “Thank you all the parent that have made it here tonight”. After he was done saying all he needed to say he prayed for us then handed it back to Mr Burt. Mr Burt told us to turn around and face the parent when we sang our school song which was called Strive to succeed. As we were finishing the song we had to go higher and higher but I couldn’t because I was too busy laughing at my mum. As we finished the song we all could go home so I went to my family and we all took pictures then went home.

This is our movie that we worked on over the past week. During the progress it looked funny but when we started to edit it came together here is our movie.

Last week Friday we went to a place called action world. When we got to actions world we got put into 4 groups and had a little bit to eat. As we all were put into groups we went to different events but it was like we were doing orientation. My favorite part at action world was a trapeze because every time I got to the top I was always scared but then was happy that we went action world. But when we had to leave I though to myself I am going to ask my mum if she could bring me back.

On Tuesday we had Creativity with Mrs Tito but she neede to finish the year 8s art so we changed with the year 8 and went to Mrs King. When we went to room 20 we all had to sit on the mat because we didn’t know what we were doing today. Mrs King said “ Today we are going to make a lips syncing video but it is going to be girls versus boys and who ever wins get hot chips”. So she picked a song for the boys and a song for the girls, So the song for the girls were Who says and the boys song was dapper man.

When we all knew what song we had to do we all had to look at the lyrics and learn the part that we will be doing on the movie. When we got the lyrics I went into the street to listen to the song while the other girls did their part outside. When it was my part I went outside but I was too shy to do it in front of the girls so I asked them to go inside until I was done.

When I did my part my all of us had to stand in a line and dance because we didn't know what to do for the chorus bit. As we were dancing they forgot to come and get me because I was inside writing story. When we were done three people edited the movie and put it on vimeo. When the boys were done they edited it and put it on vimeo. When the boys and the girls were done Mrs King watched both movies and everyone had to vote. Unfortunately the boys won but I was proud of myself because I did my best.

My Writing Sample

Walking down the street all I could hear were whispers coming in one ear and out the

other but I turned around and no-one was there. All I keep hearing was “ Help help

Someone get me out of here”. I ran fast like a fox back home to tell my Mum “ Mum

Mum when I was walking I could hear someone asking me to help them”. Mum replied

in a calmly way “ It was just your imagination don’t worry.

I thought my Mum was right but late at night I heard a whisper again “ Help help

Someone get me out of here”. I was having strange flashes in my head and seeing pictures of me in a dark room hanging on the wall.  In the morning I had breakfast and went for a walk down

my street. I went to the same place I heard the whisper coming from.I stood there to

see if the whisper was going to come back and it did but that whisper didn't say the

same thing the whisper said“ Help help Shanikqua please can you help me ” (My eye’s

went big and I was scared.) I turned around but I couldn't see anyone so I looked at

the house that was at the back and saw something strange from the inside.

So I open the gate and walked slowly like a turtle to go and see where the noise was

coming from. As I got near the door slowly open so I stood to see who was opening the

it but no-one was there. As I walked into the house I could hear people walking around

so I went upstairs to see if anyone was there but as I got upstairs someone grabbed

me with their muscled arms wrapped around my neck and started to choke.  They put me into a room and locked me in so I screamed and screamed but no one could hear me. When I stopped screaming I looked around the room and all I saw were pictures of me. As I was thinking to myself “why are there pictures of me” my heart was beating and I panicked.   I got even more scared then I was before so I kicked the door then I heard someone coming up

near the room.

Someone was standing by the door so I walked away from the door and sat in the

corner of the room. As The door open someone put a tray of food in the floor and

closed the door but I didn’t eat it I just wanted to go home and be safe. I could feel my

phone in my pocket of my jumper so I grabbed it out and called my Mum “ Mum can

you help me someone had lock me in a room and I don’t know where I am” I said in a

scared voice”. “Shanikqua Where are you I hope you're safe I will get the police to

track the phone so they can find you ok” As my Mum said. I hang the phone up and when my Mum got to the police station she rang me and the police could track my phone. “ Hello Shanikqua I have justed tracked your phone so we will be at the place

you’re at to get you out of there ok” As the police Responded to me. “Ok”.

I sat quietly in the room that I got locked in and suddenly I heard the police’s so I was

happy but Scared at the same time. When I heard the door open all I saw was my

Mum’s head pop so I ran to her and gave her a big hug. As I walked down the stairs

the police caught the man who locked me up and took him to jail. Before they left they put a lock on the door of the house so no-one else could get in.

Future Science !

As I walked into class Mrs Lagitupu told us that the team 5 are all gathering in the street because there are you vistister that have came to our school. As we all walked into the street we sat down and Mrs Tito introduced them to us “ These lovely ladies are science and they know alot of thing about science so listen carefully and put your hands up when they ask a question”.

So as they introduced their names  and told us what they do in there life one of them showed us some experiments on how to catch someone from breaking into your home. But first she tipped some powder into a bowl and she picked a volunteer to stand in the bowl to make a footprint. It was to be Clevelyn from room 19 he stood unto the bowl and made a footprint.  

After that she had another plastic filled with water and powder so she passed it around and everyone mixed it around. When it was all mixed up she tipped it into the footprint of Clevelyn shoe. It took a while to set so she left it for us to see what is would look like after that. But after they were down they went to room 15 because room 15 forgot to come to the street.

My favourite part was when she told us that she can travel around the world and learn a lot of science so I was thinking of what I would wanna be when I grow up. So I can improve my school work and try to get the job I want.

Athletics day !

Just finding out that we had athletics today I was nervous because we had to verse our year group and I versed the year 7’s. As we got changed into our house colours we had to go to the courts and get ready to start our  first event. Our first event was soft ball throw but first some of the tamaki college people came to help us out with the event. So when the helpers went to their event we left to go our first activity.

When we got there we had to sit down and listen to what we had to do. The helpers name was Nathaniel and he came from tamaki college. He needed two helpers when the others throw the soft ball the other two all on the field can bring them back in so me and Jazelle helped him. When everyone had their turn throwing the ball it was my turn. As I picked the ball up all the girls were like “ Mele is going to throw it the furthest because she has manly arms”. When I threw the ball I threw it the furthest so I came first.

When we moved to our next event we had to hop skip and jump so I couldn’t wait for my turn. When it got near my turn I stood up and had a practice before I had to go up and have a turn. I ran then hop skip and jump but as I jumped I fell onto my bum. Everyone was laughing but I didn’t feel ashamed because I was laughing to. I came first again on the event to.

My favourite event was Sprints even though I came forth because I was proud of myself and when we did races I pulled a muscle but didn’t give up and still tried my best. Mr Burt told me that I didn’t have to run because it hurted so bad the pain made me cry but I still ran because champions never give up.

My First Day Of School!

1st Draft

Today we had 40 minutes to write about our first day at school. From looking at our writing we are go to set some writing goals for the term.

“ Wake up Mele it is time for your first day of school” My Mum said. As got ready I had butterflies in my stomach feel scared. Nervously Walking to school thinking to myself “ What will my teacher be like.” Going through the gates “Come on Mele we got to go to the office and see what class you're in” Mum said in a charming voice.

We got to the office “ Hi I have just come to see what class Mele is in” As Mum spoke. “ Mele Is in room 1” The office Lady answered. Off We went to go and check out my new class. Getting near room 1 My eyes started cry out tears “ Mum can you please stay in class with me” As I sadly replied. “Yes I will just for a little bit” Mum Smiling as she answered.

Walking into class as my tears dripped to the floor “ Ok class we have a new student with us today and her name is Mele” As my new teacher explained to the class. I  slowly walked to hang my bag up and sat next to my Mum.

As the Teacher was telling the class what to do I looked around the class and suddenly saw something interesting “Mum why is there a car and a plane stuck together?” Speaking while looking at the picture. Maybe because they existed all time ago” Mum said. “Oh”.

As the teacher was finishing what he had to say he said “Everyone lets hop in a circle and say each others name so Mele gets to know all of you's. As everyone introduced himself it was my turn next and I felt scared so I stood up and hid behind my Mum. “Mele is it your turn” As mum said. “ I am Mele and I am 5” As I quietly said. So The teacher told me her Name “ Hi everyone I am Miss George and I am going to be your teacher for the rest of the year.

2nd Draft

Getting near room 1 my hand holding mom's hand tight and my eyes started cry out tears “ Mum can you please stay in class with me” As I sadly replied. “Yes I will just for a little bit” Mum Smiling as she answered.

Getting use to the class my mum leaves without me knowing. “Hi I am Taamai” as Taamai said. “Come and sit with us on the blue table and we can all work to together and help one another”. “Ok” I said cheerfully. Sitting down at the blue table with my news friends along came Sisilia. “Hi I am Sisilia” As Sisilia replied “Hi I am Mele”. As were doing writing suddenly the bell rang so off we went to eat our morning tea.

Finishing off my last bit of food “Come Mele come and play tiggy on the park with Me ,Sisilia, Gianna and Raeleen”. As Taamai cheerfully said to me. Playing tiggy on the park remembering that today was only a half a day I made the most of it. half an hour later hearing the bell ring running to class waiting for my teacher “ We are related did you know that” Sisilia said. “ you look familiar” I answered.

As Mrs George came to open the door I ran in the class sat on the mat so I could get a sticker from her. “We are going to do some maths now so lets count from 1 to 20” Said Mrs George. “1,2,3,4,5......” as all the kids were shouting. A Little while laters suddenly the bell rang home time. Seeing my mum waiting for me outside I ran to her and gave her a big hug. I can’t wait until tomorrow.

My Weekends !

On Sunday morning I woke up and all I could see was the sun shining on me. “It is going to be a hot sunny day today” I said to my little sister. When I got out of bed I walked outside and all I could see was my cousins playing hand ball. “ I'm playing with you guys” I yelled. When I jumped in line my cousin Piriniha whacked the ball and won. Then it was my turn. I challenged him because he was King.

As we were playing I told him to go easy on me because I wasn't that good and I didn't know how to play properly. As the ball was coming towards me I whacked the ball as hard as I could and skimmed Piriniha out. “You said no skimming!” yelled Piriniha. “I don’t know how to skim but you can be king because I'm going inside” I said.  “Shot Mele you better come outside” said Piriniha. “I will” I replied.

When I went inside all I could hear was my little sister so I went into my Mom's room and grabbed her.  Me and My little sister Tatiana went to the lounge and put on my movie. The movie we first watched was Honey 2. During the movie I remembered that my cousins were waiting for me outside so I went outside and told them to come inside.

When they came inside they kept on talking while I was trying to watch the movie so I told them to be quiet. A little while later their heads were in the zone of the movie but my head wasn't because my baby sister wouldn't stop crying. So I went to the kitchen, made her a bottle and put it into a bowl with cold water and waited for the water to cool down. When the bottle was warm I wrapped my little sister in a blanket and put the bottle in her mouth.

When she fell asleep I put her in bed and as I walked into the lounge the movie was finished so I went outside with my cousins and played handball. As we were playing it was getting hot so I asked my cousins if they wanted to go to the pools and they did. I went back inside again I got my stuff ready then told my Mum that I was going when I left.

My cousin was next door because that was where they lived so I went to there house to see if they were ready? When I got there they were still putting their stuff in there bags so I just sat in my aunt's room and watched T.V.  When they were all done we all walked to the pools and when we got there we just walked in because the pools were free.

When we walked through the door we all went to get change in our togs but I didn't because I don’t really want to swim. When they were all done they put their bags by me and jumped into the pool, “ Why aren't you swimming”? yelled Piriniha from the other side of the pool.  “I don't really want to swim but I might swim after” “You better”.

I was getting bored So I went to the changing room got changed and jumped into the cold pool. As I was swimming my cousin’s jumped on my back and tried to drown me but he couldn't. After we finished swimming we all got changed and went home. When I got home I was tired so I had a shower and went to sleep for school tomorrow.

Someone grabs the ball out of the shed then bounces it to her/him. Then she/he catchs the ball and shots it into the hoop. When it come's though the hoop suddenly it turns into chocolate.

Where I'm from I see people diving off slimy rocks into the sea like a mermaid

I feel cold sand washing over my feet as I peacefully strolled up and down the beach

The chilly breeze blows my hair like a hair dryer giving me goose bumps

I hear laughter over my shoulder from people on the beach running after each other, squealing happily

My reflection About Making movies

The most things I enjoyed in creativity strand was how we had to make our own rap and put a movie together. Also I liked how me and my partner took turns drawing because we did filming and animation in our movie. Also we got to go out of class and take pictures or video of other people.

The most things I didn't like was that my partner Raeleen didn't help me with the editing because she went with other group and helped them.  Also I didn't like doing the animation because I couldn't draw people walk properly and we didn't get to finish off our work.

The most interesting thing I like was our we had to make our own rap with our own words. Also how we learnt more facts about Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. Also what was interesting was that we learnt different ways to edit on I movie.

My Highlight about my friends.

My highlights is going to be about My family and friends.

I love my family because they always take care of me and always look after me. I like how my whole family go to mission bay on new years and we all get together and have a BBQ. Also on Christmas all my family come to my house. We all open our present and then have a BBQ and play touch on the grass. My Mum is the best to me because she always makes sure I am aright and that I an’t sad.

My friends are cool to hang out with because mainly every day we always go out to the courts at lunch and morning tea time then play touch. When we play touch some year seven boys come in the game and play with us.  When I am in class my friends can be annoying sometimes because they always chat to me while I'm doing my work.

My teacher is Mrs Lagitupu and she is cool. I like my teacher because she is always kind and when my writing is wrong she helps me fix it up.  Also when it is maths time my maths group has to sit in the middle table and Mrs Lagitupu shows us different Strategies mainly each week. I hope I am in Mrs Lagitupus class next year! wink wink.

Cross Country!

As it was that time of the year where we had to do cross country.After Lunch everyone in school went to the courts and line up behind the chairs that has their age or year. When everyone was there Tainui,Mataatua,Takitimu and Te Arawa had to say there cheers one after the other. When they all did there cheers it was time to race also when it was our turn I had butterflies.

As I was at the starting line I got nervous and didn't really want to the run but I still did. First Mr Burt said “On your Mark so we had to feet together Get set go”. As we were running we had to run around the top of our school field then out of the gate to the reserve. I was coming 4th but I had a really bad as sketch so I slowed down. When I got to Mrs King I saw a big Mud puddle and it looked like an mud pool so Mrs King said to slide in it and I said “ No thanks I don’t want to Get dirty that much”.

I was racing the year 7’s and it was hard. The course we ran was we had to run around the hole point England school Reserve two time and also around the top field of our school. But the year 8s did it different to us that had to do zig zag around the reserve two time and also around the top field like year 7’s.

When I got to Mrs King I saw a big Mud puddle and it looked like an mud pool so Mrs King said to slide in it and I said “ No thanks I don’t want to Get dirty that much”. When I Got near Mrs Squire’s I saw a lot of big water paddles so I ran thru them and got wet. I don’t really like getting muddy just wet. I was on my second run and did the same thing I did on my first.

I was tired and couldn't really run properly and when I got to Mr Barks I saw my friend Grace on the ground crying and Mr Barks said “She has a really bad cramp and I ask if I could look after her and Mr Barks said “She fine you go and finish off your cross country run and go run thru the finish line it your last run” “Ok”. As I ran thru the finish line I felt happy and wanted to do it again.

As I finish it felt I like it was not long but as I was running I felt tired sick and exhausted. It was pretty fun and when I had an water I felt energetic and felt like running everywhere but I took photos of people running thru the finish line. Me and Jorja ran thru the finish line together. Grace would of came first but she had a cramp so Chloe came first.

My Reflection

Yellow Hat - The things I enjoyed?

I enjoyed drawing different kind of Samoan pattern and learning Samoan word’s from these patterns. The best part of creative strand is when we had to get a piece of wood draw your Samoan pattern and crave it with a carving knife

Black Hat - Which things didn't I like?

The things I didn't enjoy was drawing patterns because it was difficult. Also I didn't like how we had to miss out a day on Friday we had to write because people weren't been good.

Green Hat - What was something interesting about this week?

The most interesting thing this week was craving out our patterns because I have never craved before. Also when I was done and I had to paint my craving i thought it would of came out wrong but when I pull my wood off the paper it came out good.

White Hat - What did I learn?

Also the most interesting  thing I learnt was Samoan pattern word’s. I learnt how to crave and when you're craving you have to keep your hand that the back of the carving knife so you don’t cut or stab yourself.

Why is church Important?

Going to church is important to me because I learn about Jesus and God. When I go to church I see new family members walking into the church. I think it is good that people go to church because they would get to know God as they are growing up.

I love reading the bible because it tells me about everyone that was here before we came to life and also it told me why Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Jesus sacrificed his life for us because he wanted us to live and to see what God has done for us and our families.

When people go to church they go to a bible study class and learn about Jesus while their parents stay in the church. Their parents get  blessed. Some parents tell everyone about what has happened in their lives. The minister talks about Jesus and sometimes they have an play of what could happen to you and your family.
